Each of us in some ways is hoping for God to speak, to respond, to show up. One night, over 2000 years ago, God showed up in a baby born in a stable. This Advent season we are again waiting.  We are waiting for God to respond to our hurts.  We are waiting on him to speak into our lives.  We are waiting on him to show up.

Our society holds a striking number of similarities with the culture of the Middle Ages. The West was at war with the Muslim world. The Church was viewed skeptically and perceived as being full of hypocrites. Many Christians had compromised their faith and blended in with the culture around them. Then came a man named Francis who changed everything. Join us for "A Call to Compassion: Lessons from the Life of St. Francis".

We are not the first pilgrims to walk the path of the spiritual life.  Our experiences may seem fresh and new to us, but there are seasons of faith on the spiritual journey that have been experienced by generations of followers of Jesus before us.  Join us for a 4-week series leading into TNL at Crooked Creek where we learn to lean into our stage of the spiritual journey, and experience God in the unique season of faith we find ourselves in.

Half of learning is learning; the other half of learning is unlearning. Unlearning is twice as hard, and it often takes twice as long. If you study the teachings of Christ, you’ll realize that learning wasn’t his primary goal. His primary goal was unlearning. He was reverse engineering religious minds. And those can be the toughest minds to change.

Jesus taught on one subject more than any other.  He was obsessed with helping his disciples understand it.  It seems like it was all that came out of His mouth: “The Kingdom of God is like...”  And yet as followers of Christ, we rarely use the term and have a hard time explaining the concept.  But the Kingdom of God is near.  It’s both already here and coming soon.  It is among us and not far off.  As followers of Christ, the Kingdom of God is where we should live and what we hope will one day be.

There are people and places, needs and issues that within our own city we could overlook and pass by because they exist in our “blind spot”. As a church we desire to acknowledge, understand, and discover how we can respond to these “blind spots”.

Forty days.  Forty nights.  Forty years.  Throughout the Scriptures God uses moments of forty to work in His people’s lives.  To test.  To renew.  To grow.  Our desire is for God to work again in the lives of his people in a moment of forty spent in devotion to Him.
