Advent Conspiracy
November 27 through December 18, 2007
by Dave Terpstra

Christmas was meant to change the world.

This Christmas at TNL we are going to challenge ourselves to engage the holiday season in a whole new way. The holiday season is marked in the church as the season of Advent, when we prepare to celebrate Christmas and remember the coming of the Messiah.

This year, we are joining in an Advent Conspiracy. Advent Conspiracy is an international movement restoring the scandal of Christmas by substituting compassion for consumption.

Letters to Corinth
October 2 through November 27, 2007
by Dave Terpstra and Brian Gray

When people become Christians, they don’t at the same time become nice. This always comes as something of a surprise. Beginning to follow Christ doesn’t automatically give a person manners and morals. It is the same story today as it was a few thousand years ago. One city in particular, Corinth, had a reputation in the ancient world as unruly, hard-living, and promiscuous. Paul writes a letter that reviews the old ground of belief and action.

"Letters to Corinth", a series by Teaching Pastor Dave Terpstra and Community Pastor Brian Gray, walks through this instructional and inspirational letter by the apostle Paul. A firm, clear, affectionate review of belief and action is as needed today as it was then.

a safe place
September 4 through 18, 2007

“A safe place.” That is what people say they have found here at TNL, but what does it mean? Why is it important to each of us to help create a place that is safe and ultimately where is safety found? In a three week series preparing for our annual fall retreat Teaching Pastor Dave Terpstra along with guest speaker Michael Tucker, founder and director of HIV Care Link, speak openly and honestly about our need and our responsibility to continue to make the church a safe place.

My Life
June 3 through August 21, 2007
by Dave Terpstra, Margaret Feinberg, Jared Mackey and Brian Gray

We tend to compartmentalize our lives.  We have a private life, a public life, a work life, a home life, a sex life,  and a financial life.  Some areas of our life we hand over to God, but some we hold back.  In this 12-week series "My Life", we will be looking at life -- All of it.  And we will be wrestling with the compartmentalization of our lives, wondering together what a whole life turned over to God might look like.

Blind Spots: Orphans in Denver, Modern Slavery
various dates
"Orphans in Denver" by Robert Gelinas
"Modern Slavery" by Not For Sale Campaign

There are people and places, needs and issues that within our own city we could overlook and pass by because they exist in our “blind spot”. As a church we desire to acknowledge, understand, and discover how we can respond to these “blind spots”.

“Being a Christian in today’s world is, of course, anything but simple. But there is a time for trying to say, as simply as possible, what it’s all about, and this seems to me that sort of time.” N.T. Wright

The Ideology of TNLC 2007
January 9 through February 20, 2007
by Dave Terpstra, Jared Mackey and Brian Gray

TNL is a church. We are a community of followers of Jesus Christ who are together being changed by God to change the world. And it is our desire to not simply be known for what we do, but also for who we are, who God has called us to be.  In this series, the Core Pastors of TNL cast the vision of the Ideology of The Next Level Church: who we hope we are and who we believe with God’s help we are becoming.
